Saratoga Elementary School Garden

The Saratoga Elementary School community has created an outdoor School Garden for our teachers to utilize as a cross-curricula stepping-stone for numerous lessons. This outdoor living classroom offers a dynamic, beautiful setting in which to integrate every discipline, including science, math, reading, environmental studies, art, nutrition, and health. The outdoor living classroom is the perfect space for STEAM* learning to come alive!

The School Garden has a second important benefit for our children - a safe place where, during their daily lunch or recess, they can try a new vegetable, dig for worms, draw, write in their journals or just sit back and read a book and enjoy their surroundings.

The greenhouse in the School Garden will allow us to expand the opportunities for science experiments, environmental studies, and nutritional education. It will allow us to grow things that we wouldn’t otherwise be able to grow in our classroom – new veggies to taste!

To find out how you, too, can support the School Garden, go to www.saratogausd.org and search for “Garden”.
