Valley Verde (VV) is a nonprofit organization that helps low income residents in Santa Clara County grow their own vegetables in backyard organic gardens. They are dedicated to improve access to healthy, organic produce, build urban gardening and environmental skills and create healthier lifestyles in food insecure communities.

Launched in 2012, VV provides low income families with the knowledge and tools needed to grow and maintain their own organic vegetable gardens in exchange for sweat equity to install their home gardens. Additionally, they sell gardening kits to individuals, organizations and businesses. Proceeds from the sales are used to help more low-income families start their own home organic vegetable gardens.

Valley Verde expands traditional food system theory, policy and practice, and are already bringing change regarding food access, strengthening communities and improving our environment.
